From Curt Malyar:

When I began teaching karate in 1978, my goal was to bring

quality martial arts to Johnson City at reasonable prices.

Growing up in New Jersey, many of the martial arts schools

charged a lot of money, yet I noticed their instruction was

inferior to what I had received.  With this in mind, I continued

to grow my martial arts program.  I always thought martial

arts should be geared towards self-defense with the benefits

of confidence, focus, self-discipline and fitness becoming

part of the overall learning process.

What make us different?  We are leaders.

  • We were the first to introduce a short trial program with a free uniform.

  • Confidence vs. pseudo-confidence:  Our members develop real confidence, not fake confidence.

  • We encourage parents to participate by including them in our class discussions.

  • We make karate affordable for everyone.  We accomplish this by keeping tuition rates low and not forcing members to pay additional fees for things that are unnecessary, such as $100.00 uniforms.

  • Students do not just memorize movements, but learn practical concepts.

  • Our instructors each have over 17 years of training personally, have trained in various forms of martial arts and are highly skilled in providing quality instruction to our members.

  • Karate legend Bill "Superfoot" Wallace travels the world giving seminars.  He personally told me (Curt Malyar) that our kids know more than most adults.  Another legend, Joe Lewis, "the Father of American KickBoxing" has said we are the "Harvard of martial arts schools" and are "cutting edge."
